Tethro Corporation

The Tethro Corporation was the largest mining corporation in the Galaxy.

After the end of the Golden Age of Piracy, most mining companies and governments were in a serious lack of funds and the mining industry was owned by the Carthagian Guilds, a very tough organization to communicate and negotiate with, especially as they had no interest in money or sharing their mineral bounties.

Enter Desmond Tethro, an Innox entrepeneuer, offering the Council to give him authority over a cluster of the most high yielding mining planets, suggesting that a politically neutral mining industry would save individual governments a lot of money, allow for fair distribution of mineral wealth, and provide a single organization to negotiate with the Carthagian Guilds. The Council agreed that a politically neutral mining corporation would be able to provide a fair distribution of minerals at Council regulated prices and thus provided their favor. Soon, Tethro had all of the richest mines in the Galaxy under their control and surprisingly quickly, seemed to be completely in control of the Carthagian Guilds, achieving never before seen co-operation with the mysterious mineral based lifeforms.

However, Tethro's ambition didn't stop there, a mere decade later, Tethro had become so large and powerful that they were able to strongarm the council into giving them actual voting power, which only grew with the organization itself. Using this power, it was able to secure the rights to protect its own properties and the Carthagian properties by receiving permits to create its own military division, which soon turned into one of the Galaxy's premier military forces. Then in an effort to 'improve' mining efficiency and lower prices, a research division was formed, mostly used for military technology.

Before long, Tethro had become a giant corporation, supplying minerals, arms, ships, mercenary troops and even biotech all over the Galaxy. Their power had so grown, that their council votes rarely grow opposed, as an embargo by Tethro would mean an energy crisis, as they, along with the Carthagians that do their bidding, own most the Warp Crystal mines in the galaxy.
